The latest UK Public Library Dataset contains contact information and a unique identifier for over 4000 UK Public Library branches and is published by Collections Trust on data.gov.uk http://data.gov.uk/dataset/uk-public-library-contacts-14032012
It is the first and most comprehensive datatset of its kind and is published under the terms of an Open Government Licence http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/.
It covers the whole of the UK and contains library branch-name, main postal address, telephone, email and web address where known.
Collections Trust originally compiled the dataset between October 2011 and March 2012, with the support of Arts Council England, The Society of Chief Librarians and The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
It was originally produced from legacy data from the ‘People’s Network’ programme, cross-referenced with more recent datasets from UK-Online and the BBC.
The dataset now includes updates received direct from libraries and the public via Collections Trust’s smartphone friendly Find a Library service www.findalibrary.org.uk.
