Description: | The old Brixton Fire Station was situated on Ferndale Road, behind the Bon Marche department store, and built before it, c.1870. It was later moved to Station Road, but the building has survived and is now converted into offices. This photograph of the fire men in uniform and their horse-drawn engine includes a group of boys made to pose on the ladder of the fire-fighting equipment to the left.
