Description: | The 'Great Exhibition' was held in London in May 1851 to demonstrate to the world the industrial supremacy and prosperity of Britain. It was held in a specially constructed building made of glass and iron, and was known as the 'Crystal Palace'. About 6.2 million people visited the exhibition looking at the vast range of displays, from architecture and history to material and food.
This music sheet illustration shows Crystal Palace in the background, with many people gathering in the grounds. There are foreigners in turbans who had travelled long distances to see the exhibition. | License: | http://www.bl.uk/services/copy/permission.html | Publisher: | Duff & Hodgson, 65 Oxford Street | Rights holder: | British Library | Subjects: | Sheet Music | Source: | Collect Britain | Creator: | Tussaud, Frank B | Identifier: | http://www.collectbritain.co.uk/personal... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
