Description: | This collection contains the administrative records of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre and, after 1960, the Royal Shakespeare Company. Early archival material, which is now in the public domain, includes the Minute Book of Governors Meetings from 1875 to 1945. It also includes material relating to fund-raising for the new Memorial theatre 1929-1932, and some financial records for the 1940s. Material currently remaining under embargo includes the General Manager's files, correspondence, financial records and other documentation pertaining to all aspects of company administration. This includes projects such as the construction of the Swan Theatre, minutes and correspondence stemming from governors' meetings, sponsorship, press and public relations and marketing files, etc. The embargo placed upon this material by the RSC is 50 years from the date of creation.; There is a Library catalogue available. Some material is also listed separately.
