Description: | The Collection relates to the career and historical theatre collection of John Phillips (1914-1995). Phillips acted at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and the London and Bristol Old Vic Theatres. He appeared in a large number of televison productions including The Forsyte Saga. Archival items include Phillips's own extensive professional CV; programmes from 1880 onwards; scrapbooks; photograph albums; an unidentified 19th century photograph of an actor or actress in costume; press cuttings and an audio tape which includes theatrical reminiscences of Sir Barry Jackson, Tyrone Guthrie, Donald Wolfit and Sir John Gielgud and material from international theatre tours.; All catalogued items are searchable online.
