"REPERTORY THEATRE SCOTTISH PLAYGOERS COMPANY" DES MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928) This design for a canopy was created by Mackintosh for the Scottish Playgoers Company, the first non-commercial repertory establishment founded in Glasgow in 1909, by Alfred Wareing (1876-1942). The aim of the Scottish Playgoers Company was to encourage the initiation and advancement of a purely Scottish Drama. In 1910 the name was changed to the Scottish Repertory Theatre.
