"Presented with THE WHIRLWIND, Dec. 20, 1890 PRINT WAY, Thomas Robert; (English; 1861-1913) PUB THE WHIRLWIND CRE WHISTLER, James McNeill; (American; 1834-1903) This lithograph was printed by Thomas Way in 1890 and published by "The Whirlwind" on the 20th December of the same year. Whistler depicted Maunder's fish shop in Chelsea at least four times in a variety of media. An etching of the same subject, dating from 1886, also forms part of this collection, "The Fish Shop, Busy Chelsea" (Kennedy 264, GLAHA 46623). (See also 49045/49239 - 49243/49641/49657/49720/49721).
