Description: | Ts diary (2pp) written during a voyage from Southampton to Karachi, India, while serving with the 2/4th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, December 1914 - January 1915, describing conditions on board ship, recreational activities and the sights they witnessed during the voyage; together with two ms letters written home to his mother from India (2pp each, February 1916 and August 1917) in which he discusses the latest war news and describes the poor state of the Garrison Battalions in India, the hot climate and games of tennis with the local nurses; four ms postcards sent home, 1915 - 1917; a photograph of him in uniform; ts orders (3pp) dating from his service in which he is mentioned; his Soldier's Pay Book (AB 64), protection certificates, certificate of employment during the war and demobilisation certificate; his identity discs; two postcards written by his brother Gerald Cawsey of the 237th Brigade RFA; and a London Ambulance Service pass from the Second World War.
