Description: | Ms memoir (77pp), written in the 1930s and illustrated with some photographs and postcard photographs, covering his experiences as a gunner in the (?) 86th Heavy Battery RGA (6th Anglo-Indian Division) during the siege of Kut in Mesopotamia, December 1915 - April 1916, including useful references to the other ranks' good opinion of Major General Sir Charles Townshend and his communiques, the despondency initially caused by the failure of the relief force to reach the town, the increasing shortage of rations and tobacco for the garrison, and the actions of the garrison on the day of surrender; and concluding with a brief description of his experiences as a prisoner of war at Shamran and during the march across the desert to the other ranks' camps in Asia Minor
