Description: | A series of four ms diaries covering his service as an NCO with the 1/28th (County of London) Battalion The London Regiment (Artists' Rifles) (190th Brigade, 63rd Division) on the Western Front, 1915 - 1916, and as an officer with the 8th Battalion Border Regiment (75th Brigade, 25th Division), 1916 - 1918, serving occasional attachments to Brigade HQ as Intelligence Officer and briefly attached in early 1918 to the 52nd Battalion Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment) in the United Kingdom, providing few details of his service. Together with ms notes (ca 50pp) written 1977 - 1981 and expanding on corresponding entries in the diaries, 4 ms letters (6pp) from Lieutenant F L Clark, a fellow Battalion officer recuperating in the UK, July 1916 - November 1917, giving personal news, and 3 ms letters (7pp) from Captain A H Westwood giving news of the Battalion's actions in France, August - September 1918.
