Description: | Ts diary/memoir (16pp) briefly describing his training with the 2/10th Battalion Manchester Regiment, September 1914 - July 1915, then his service at Gallipoli with the 1/10th Battalion Manchester Regiment (126th Brigade, 42nd Division) from July until September 1915 when he was evacuated suffering from dysentery, and after spending time in hospital in the United Kingdom he was attached to the 3/10th Battalion Manchester Regiment, October 1915 - February 1916, before being sent back to his battalion in Egypt where he saw action in the defence of the Suez Canal, March 1916 - March 1917, then his battalion was transferred to France where he served as a Signaller in the Somme Sector and late near Nieuport, March - December 1917, until wounded and repatriated to the UK, when on recovering he was posted to the 8th (Reserve) Battalion Manchester Regiment, May - November 1918, but then transferred to the Royal Engineers and served in Dunkirk, December 1918 - May 1919, with the 55th Broad Guage Railway Operating Company, before being demobilised in June 1919.
