Description: | Ms diary (89pp) covering his service as a despatch rider in the Royal Naval Division on the Gallipoli Peninsula and in France, February 1915 - June 1917, describing his landing on the Peninsula while providing a continuous record of the bombardments by each side and revealing the dangers to which non-combatant personnel were exposed, with occasional mention of the wider aspects of the fighting including the seizure of Chunuk Bair, and remarks on the Helles evacuation before detailing his arrival in the Joinville and Doullens areas of France (May 1916); together with a ts trench magazine (6pp) from Gallipoli including an article presumably written by him and describing a despatch rider's visit to the front lines (1915), an ms semi-humorous account (5pp) of a Gallipoli meal, and 6 photographs and 8 postcards relating to Gallipoli.
