Description: | 35 ms letters (most undated or partly dated) written by a VAD and Nursing orderly during her service with the Scottish Women's Hospital Unit, July 1917 - January 1918 and August 1918 - February 1919 beginning with her arrival in France and visit to her brother, a patient in a Le Treport hospital and covering principally her duties (tending mainly French wounded), living and working conditions while based at the Abbaye de Royaumont (July - August 1917 and August 1918 - February 1919) and at the SWH hospital at Villers-Cotterets (August 1917 - January 1918) as well as interesting comments on Dr Frances Ivens and the other 'Scottish Women', the issue of gas masks (October - November 1917), the demanding nature of American patients, Christmas celebrations and plans for future employment after leaving Royaumont; a file of miscellaneous papers relating to her nursing including Red Cross certificates, official SWH correspondence, passes and visas together with a few photographs and badges, her Berkshire Red Cross VAD Brassard and certificates have been placed with the collection.
