Liquid compass with binnacle and hood.
Bowl: Dia. 9.0" (22.9 cm). Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom. Inside of bowl painted white with two black wire lubber lines attached to sides 90 degrees apart. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 10.75" 927.3 cm) diameter.
Card: Dia. 6.5" (16.5 cm). White painted mica ring with black markings, graduated to quarter points and quadrantally in degrees, attached by a wire framework to a white painted float at centre.
Needle: Two needles of circular section 2.75" (7.0 cm) long mounted below the card.
Pivot: Unsighted, but a bridge can be seen mounted across the base of the bowl to which the pivot stem is secured.
Azimuth mirror: "kelvin type" 'Arrow up & Arrow down' of black painted brass mounted on a black painted brass circle 9.25" (23.5 cm) dia.
Binnacle: Dia. 13.75" (34.9 cm) "Kelvin type". Varnished wood with grey painted brass fittings. Brass top. Fitted with sphere brackets and spheres, four corrector coils, 'Flinders Bar' 24.25" (61.5 cm) long. Corrector magnet racks unsighted as it was not possible to open the doors.
Hood: Grey painted brass with oval glazed aperture on one side (glass cracked), a round aperture with brass cap at the top. Fitted with an oil lamp bracket (lamp missing).
