Description: | This is a collection of published or commercially-produced Shakespeare recordings including the 'Caedmon' Shakespeare recordings made by the Marlowe Society and the BBC CD and cassette adaptations recorded for BBC Radio 3. There is also a small collection of scripts from radio broadcasts of the BBC World Service in the 1970s and 1980s. Films include a full set of 'Macbeth' reels for Roman Polanski's film (1971),and some black and white newsreel film relating to events in Stratford-upon-Avon. Published videos include most direct adaptations, created for film or television, of Shakespeare's plays and some works inspired by or derived from Shakespeare. The complete BBC Television Shakespeare and the RSC archive videos are described elsewhere on the Touchstone web-site. The RSC production archive includes reel-to-reel tape recordings of shows in the 1970s and sound effects used in the 1970s-1990s.; There is a Library catalogue available. Some material is also listed separately.
