Description: | The Collection consists of the research of Felicity Firth on the subject of Pirandello. Felicity Firth is a writer and expert on Pirandello, and a member of the British Pirandello Society. Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936) was a writer and playwright, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1934 'for his bold and ingenious revival of dramatic and scenic art'. The Collection holds photograph albums featuring pictures of Pirandello in person, and of international productions of his plays. Firth has made extensive notes on productions between 1910-1964, and collected articles and reviews, and details on the broadcasting in Britain of Pirandello's plays. There is a body of correspondence regarding Firth's research on Pirandello. This includes signed letters from Harold Pinter, accepting the offer to become patron of the British Pirandello Society, and from Sir John Gielgud, sharing his memories of Pirandello productions. There are a number of playscripts, and programmes from Pirandello plays and other productions. The Archive is of particular interest to those who are studying Pirandello, and would be invaluable to anyone writing on him. A reading knowledge of Italian and French would be advantageous, but is not essential.; All catalogued items are searchable online. For all other collection items, contact the
