CRE WHISTLER, James McNeill; (American; 1834-1903) The dome of Ajaccio cathedral is depicted from the hill of Salerio near the Parc Balestrino, Corsica. It was painted during Whistler's visit to the island in the early Winter months of 1901, while he convalesced from a recurring illness.
