The festival is held in the Piazza St. Croix, Florence. Celebrating the fat Thursday before Lent, it was chosen by Cosimo II to honour his wife, Maria Magdalena, with a triumphant procession, mock battle, and equestrian ballet. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | AMPHITHEATER : CHARIOT : PROCESSION : FLORENCE : FESTIVAL : ITALY : CROWD : SOLDIER : CAVALIER : SET : GUERRE DE BEAUTE : WAR OF BEAUTY : MEDICI : PIAZZA SANTA CROCE : FAT THURSDAY : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
