Description: | Microfilm copy of an ms diary in four volumes, November 1914 - April 1919, the first (50pp, November 1914 and August - October 1915) recording his service as a Lieutenant with the 1st Lovat Scouts Yeomanry (Highland Mounted Brigade) in Lincolnshire, embarking for Mudros in the SS AUDANIA (September 1915) and then landing at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli, where they were employed digging trenches until he contracted dysentery and was evacuated to Alexandria in Egypt; the second volume (43pp, October - November 1916 and May - July 1917) records his service as Adjutant to the Yeomanry Base Depot while serving with the 10th (Lovat Scouts) Battalion The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders in Egypt (September 1916 - October 1916) and Salonika (October 1916 - June 1917), describing his staff work at the Headquarters of the 82nd Brigade (27th Division) and period as DAA and QMG at 27th Divisional HQ at Dimitric, criticising the amount of time set aside for recreational activities; the third volume (47pp, July 1917 - June 1918) covers his final year of service in Macedonia, detailing his service as assistant to the DAAG at the 16th Corps HQ at Sirvi before returning to assist in the planning for the 81st Brigade's attack on Homondos (October 1917), the raid on Salmah and then resuming trench maintenance at Bluff camp near Ano Krusover; the fourth volume (148pp, October 1918 - April 1919) covers the Battalion's transfer to the Western Front as Line of Communication troops stationed at Merlimont near Etaples, describing his duties as Adjutant and commenting on the lack of things to do, news of Armistice, Lord Lovat's visit to the Battalion, and the progress of demobilisation.
