Description: | Ms (expanded) transcripts with ts information and appendices (318pp photocopies) of his diary (November 1915 - May 1919) describing his service as an Artillery Officer: in England (August 1914 - November 1915) and on the Western Front (November 1915 - December 1916) as a Subaltern with the 1st Hertfordshire Battery RFA (August 1914) and subsequently ADC to Brigadier General Sir George Biddulph, CRA 54th (East Anglian) Division; in Egypt/Palestine (February 1916 - May 1919) as: Orderly Officer and later Adjutant of 273rd (re-designated 270th in December 1916) Brigade RFA, 54th Division (January 1916 - May 1918), Adjutant of 53rd Brigade RFA, 3rd (Lahore) Division (August - September 1918) and Staff Captain, 3rd Divisional Troops area (February - May 1919), giving good descriptions of the three Battles of Gaza (1917) and subsequent operations (1917 - 1918) at Nabi Samweil, Tell Asur and Megiddo. He was educated at Malvern College and Oxford.
