Description: | Ms transcription of a brief diary (17pp) written by him while serving with 4th Field Company RE, 2nd London Division (March - July 1915) covering his arrival in France, his first experience of working under fire at Givenchy (March 1915), his work building breastworks in the front line, as a cyclist orderly, on general repairs, and trench digging, his hospitalisation at Treport as a result of shock from constant shelling (June 1915), his general duties at base, superintending POWs, and his return to England (July 1915) and attachment to 3rd/4th Field Company. Also included in the collection are photocopies of his discharge papers.
