Description: | Seventeen greeting cards. a) Perfume sachet, white embossed paper with chromolithographed bouquet and sprigs with a poem "To a Friend" printed on silk. b) Perfume sachet, pink embossed paper with gilt lace paper applique and a poem "Love's Wish" printed on silk. c) Single leaf card, gilt and with central chromolithographed medallion, folding back to reveal poem "Faithful Love". d) Folded, embossed lacy paper, silvered. Central oval medallion contains poem "I love thee still" printed on silk. e) Folded, embossed, scallop edged paper. Central silk printed message, "there lives more life" surrounded by chromolithographed garland. Four gilt cut scrap knots. f) Pair of scales made of punched card and green cord. On one disc is affixed a felt heart and to the other, a weight. Across the arms is handwritten "Ladies beware, modern love". g) Folded, embossed, delicate lace paper. Central cartouche with hand painted and embossed picture of a housemaid, her skirt and apron of scrap material. The legend "Please Sir!". h) Folded, embossed lacy paper, silvered. The front silk covered and padded, decorated with a basket of dried grasses, treated ivy leaves and fruit and berries (of ivorine/plastic). Below, an ear of wheat and cut scrap message "Ever the same". i) Sachet card with a chromolithographed image of a boy and girl on the back and one of a vase of flowers on the front. Four of the flowers lift up to reveal love poems. j) Card of paper with a design of a man kneeling before a grate holding a fish in one hand and a fork in the other, when a tab is pulled the arm holding the fork moves towards the fish. Below a poem (see notes). k) Valentine, sachet, of lacy paper and gilt, on the front chromolithograph of the face of a lady in a heart shaped garland of flowers. Inside a medallion of flowers and on the other side a medallion with a poem "The Wish". l) Card with scalloped edges, decorated in gilt with a floral border. A central medallion containing a Robin and "A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year". Chromolithgraph garland of flowers surrounds. m) Card with a silvery background printed with three coloured moths and a poem entitled "Christmas". n) Card with scalloped gilt edges. In the centre chromolithograph roses with a banner "A Merry Christmas" surrounded by four doors with images of children at play which open to reveal more images. When tabs at the top and bottom are pulled Christmas messages are revealed in the doors. o) Sachet envelope of lacy paper with with chromolithograph flower garlands in each corner and a medallion of two saintly ladies in the centre. Inside central picture ot a robin and the message "The Compliments of the season to you". p) Fan card with six leaves with images of flowers and two Christmas poems. q) Card with a central image of a girl scattering flowers from a horn. Surrounded by flower garlands intersperced by cupids and romantic sayings. Five chromolithograph flowers are attached.
