Description: | The Special Collections Department contains the following collections:
The Spanish Drama Collection contains 800 18th and 19th century play texts. The Shawe-Taylor Collection contains classical orchestral music. The Doyle Davidson Collection contains classical orchestral music.
The Special Collections Department also contains 1930s Yugoslav folk melodies; Russian popular melodies; classical orchestral, choral works; national anthems of allied nations during World War II; 11 dialect records produced by the British Drama League demonstrating English and Irish dialects; the Delphic Hymn transcribed by Benjamin Britten; a manuscript copy of Nicholas Maw's Chamber Music; papers of Dr. Eric Jones-Evans, medical practitioner and actor; The W. Gillam Theatre Collection includes theatre and opera programmes, some for Henry Irving at the Royal Lyceum, London, and other London theatres; programmes for the Shakespeare festival at Stratford in the 1930s and newspaper cuttings; papers of Norman J. Crisp dated 1955-1992, including scripts and correspondence relating to films, television, plays and series including Dr. Findlay's Casebook.; There is a database available. There are also catalogues.
