Description: | Abstracts of deeds 1754-99 as in RED/2/2/1/2 and of a deed of 1818 (RED/1/1/10) which arranged for the surrender of a term of 500 years, particulars of other deeds not with this deposit, including the will of William Duke of St. Albans formerly lord William Beauclerk ref. to estates at Pickworth and Hibaldstow (trustees lord Amelius and lord Frederick Beauclerk his brothers and Thomas Nettleshipp). Hereinbefore devised.
Property: his manor and mansion house at Redbourne and other messuages and lands there, his mansion house in St. James' Square and all other freehold estates, to the use in turn of his sons in tail male, namely William Aubrey de Vere earl of Burford, lord Frederick Charles Peter Beauclerk, lord Henry Beauclerk, lord Charles Beauclerk, lord Amelius Wentworth Beauclerk, lord George Augustus Beauclerk, then to lady Maria Amelia Beauclerk, lady Charlotte, lady Louisa Georgiana, lady Geogiana and lady Mary Noel Beauclerk in equal shares as tenants in tail, remainder to his right heirs Provision for jointure for his successor's wife, powers for leasing, sale or exchange of the estates and for purchase of other lands, provision of £10,000 each to the younger children and for maintenance till 21 years (sons) or marriage or at 21 years whichever sooner for daughters. Leasehold property to the same uses, 8 November 1825.
Act of 1825, 6 Geo.IV, for altering and enlarging the powers of two earlier acts for draining lands within the Ancholme level and empowering commissioners to levy up to a further £30,000 for the work and to rate owners including tenants in tail or for life for this purpose.
An opinion regarding that act, that the mortgages for this rate would become the first charge on the property, that the duke of St. Albans as tenant for life might make a valid security for the rate under certain conditions, John Wilson 10 Grays Inn Square, 12 May 1827.
