Description: | Photocopy of an ms. transcript (64pp) of a diary covering his service as a platoon and company commander in the 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (2nd Division) on the Western Front from August to December 1914, when he was severely wounded, and including their crossing to France and participation in the retreat from Mons, the Battles of the Marne and the Aisne and the First Battle of Ypres, with particular reference to the fighting at Langemarck, Gheluvelt and Nonne Bosschen; together with photocopies of official documents concerning the operations of the 2/4th Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (61st Division) at Fromelles in July 1916 and in a trench raid in April 1917.
