Description: | Two ms pocket diaries for 1915 and 1916 (together with a ts transcription of the 1915 diary, 66pp) kept during his service as a driver in the transport section of the 15th Battalion AIF (4th Australian Infantry Brigade, New Zealand and Australian Division), describing his journey from Australia to Lemnos and the landing of ANZAC troops at Gallipoli (25 April 1915), the subsequent fighting, his wounding and evacuation to Malta in June 1915, his second wounding upon returning to Gallipoli the following month and subsequent service in Alexandria, Egypt, his experiences in the camp at Ismailia, Egypt, and then in France in the line at Ancre (June 1916), together with two Soldiers Pay Books, two photographs, 23 postcards, a French banknote, and a Soldier's Bible.
