Description: | Microfilm copy of an ms transcription (242pp) of his letters home covering his training as a trooper in the Essex Yeomanry in Suffolk (October - November 1914) and service as an NCO with the regiment in the 3rd Cavalry Division in France (December 1914 - August 1915); his service as a subaltern in the Norfolk Yeomanry (3rd Dismounted Brigade) in Egypt (February - August 1916), including operations on the Western Frontier against the Senussi in August; his flying training in Egypt (September - November 1916) and service as an observer with No 47 Squadron RFC in the Balkans from December 1916 until he was wounded in June 1917; his time in the 28th General Hospital in Salonika (July - November 1917) and his service as an observer with No 139 Squadron RAF in Italy just before the Armistice (October - December 1918).
