Description: | Ts account (49pp) of his service in the 88th Field Ambulance RAMC (88th Brigade, 29th Division) at Gallipoli, 1915 - 1916, detailing his arrival at Imbros and appointment to the hospital transport HMHS CALEDONIA where he treated his first wounded, describing the conditions in the operating theatre and the many funerals held on board, the widespread criticism of the General Staff and the bad conditions on the island of Mudros before his posting to Suvla Bay (September 1915) where he established a new Dressing Station and notes that disease rather than the Turks was the real enemy, the aftermath of the great storm (27 November 1915) before his evacuation along with the other Allied forces (20 December 1915), his landing back at Cape Helles where he was attached to the 11th Casualty Clearing Station, the heavy shelling and large numbers of casualties before his transfer to the 17th Stationary Hospital and then evacuation from 'W' Beach (9 January 1916) and return to the United Kingdom.
