Description: | Silvered copper alloy pressed and stamped three-part hollow domed button with separate soldered circular attachment loop. The button has eight raised pyramidal turrets, each surrounded by a circle of rays, with one in the centre and seven around it in a circle. The back is made of another pressed sheet circle with the attachment loop in the centre.Bailey (2004) illustrates a similar pattern on a cut steel button on page 65, Fig.9.184, which is dated to the 18th century, but the way the button has been made suggests it is more likely 19th century in date.Cuddeford & Meredith (1997) illustrate a silver button with the same bosses and surrounded by a ring of raised ridges on page 30, No.10, which is dated to the 19th century.
