Description: | Memoir (86pp) of his experiences with the Australian Imperial Forces at Gallipoli and in France, 1914 - 1918, describing his journey to Gallipoli, their food and rations, his wounding at Anzac and evacuation back to Australia, his return to the Middle East with the 51st Battalion AIF and then journey to France where he became the unit Intelligence Officer (June 1915), his duties including the study of German shelling habits as well as mentioning the discovery of a boy of fourteen serving with them, censorship practises, his admiration for Army chaplains, attendance on a Staff Course at Cambridge and return to France to serve as Assistant Brigade Major with the 13th Brigade HQ, the Battle of Polygon Wood, his transfer to the 12th Brigade, conditions in London (February 1918) and the Battle of Dernancourt (April 1918).
