Description: | Word processed transcription of a diary (22pp) written (March 1915 - June 1917) during his service with the Royal Horse Artillery (29th Division) covering his passage to the Dardanelles (March - April 1915), his landing at Seddul Bahr Fort/Achi Baba, with good brief details of the action, his evacuation to Mudros (January 1916) and passage to Marseilles (March 1916), his experience of the action during the first day of the Somme (July 1916) and subsequent experiences at Thiepval (September 1916), and La Basee Canal (June 1917); including notes on heavy bombardments and heavy casualties, treatment following his wounding (May), his duties on the guns, and a copy of a newspaper article containing an extract from a letter to his wife in Farnworth describing the action.
