Description: | Word processed transcription of a diary (21pp, including background information) written by him (July - November 1915) during his service at Gallipoli with 1/1st Battalion Herefordshire Regiment, covering his embarkation and passage to the Dardanelles (July - August), the landing at Lala Baba and advance to the front, his experiences in the line, hospitalisation at Mudros (August - September) and return to the Peninsula (October) before the final evacuation by hospital ship to Alexandria (November), with details of his road making duties, poor weather conditions, and the death of men on the frozen beaches awaiting evacuation; together with notes (based on regimental records) covering his ensuing service in the Middle East at the Third Battle of Gaza (November 1917), during which he was killed in action.
